Josh Phelps
Licensed Professional Counselor
·MS, LPCAbout
Josh has his MS degree in Professional Counseling from Grand Canyon University and is a Licensed Professional Counselor who has worked in various roles in the mental health field with all ages. He has specialized in work with children and adolescents since 2008, including a stint working in residential treatment centers with adolescents. Josh also has experience providing substance use treatment with adults. Josh’s specialized emphasis is working with early childhood, children, and teenagers using various forms of child/teen-centered therapy and he is an expert in working with people with ADHD. He completed his certification in Play Therapy at the University of Wyoming in May 2023 and really enjoys spending time engaged with any aged child or teen. Josh also utilizes the adult theoretical models of DBT, CBT, and EMDR (since 2019). Uniquely, Josh uses EMDR with children ages 12 and over as well. Josh comes from the strengths-based belief that children and adults are doing the best they can with what they got in life, and that they want to do better and/or someone around them believes in them and wants them to do better. One of Josh’s hobbies is finding a good joke and telling it to everyone around him. He also loves exploring Wyoming and the west! Credentials & Experience: I am certified in Play Therapy and EMDR for ages 12 and up.
"With adults, I often use the theoretical models of Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and EMDR. With children and adolescents, I use an eclectic blend of therapies including Play Therapy, some Geek Therapy, gaming/VR therapy, EMDR and others to connect with and help heal clients under 18."
