I specialize in a wide range of psychological evaluations. Most of these are related to the criminal legal system. I assess risk of recidivism and amenability to treatment for those charged with sexual offending, both in the adult and juvenile system. I evaluate for competency to stand trial and whether there is support for a plea of Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity. I use formal testing, actuarial predictive instruments, review of records, collateral information and clinical interview to formulate my recommendations. I also see therapy clients with whom I use an approach integrating mindfulness and cognitive therapy. In terms of civil law, I provide evaluations for those who need guardianship, both initially and with annual reviews. I also provide psychological evaluations in matters related to custody and placement decisions. Most often I am asked to do this by the guardian ad litem, and the divorcing parents share the cost. In addition to the practice of forensic assessments, I am available to do psychological evaluations for difficulties in learning, as well as exploring AD/HD or possible neuro-divergence, such as in Autistic Spectrum Disorders. There are also times when a general psychological evaluation is useful in addressing barriers in therapy. Credentials & Experience: I have been a psychologist since 1985, working both as a therapist and as one who conducts evaluations. I have been in private practice in Central Wisconsin since 2002, working with therapy clients as well as agencies and courts.
