About
If you're looking for therapy, we already have something in common. As someone who's had on/off therapy throughout my life, I understand what it's like to be in the client's seat. My own experiences with mental health, trauma, and therapy have fueled my drive to give others a down-to-earth, validating, and practical therapy experience. I know it feels weird to open up to a stranger, and initial sessions can feel a little weird for me, too, but it only gets easier from session one. Together, we can discuss your concerns, process emotions, review coping skills, dig deeper, and hopefully share some laughs along the way! I offer a person-centered approach that provides unconditional positive regard in a judgment-free environment. My counseling style tends to be more of a flowing conversation with discussion of coping skills and new insights peppered in. I mostly draw upon CBT and ACT principles. Colorful language and dark humor are welcome in my office! If you are interested in working with me, please feel free to call or email Stillwater Counseling. I am accepting new in-person and telehealth clients and have availability that includes evenings. I mostly work with adults, but I sometimes accept teens. I'd love to hear from you! (Note: my cats will sometimes make appearances during telehealth appointments) Specialties: I really enjoy working with clients who are dealing with anxiety, stress, and depression. I like helping LGBTQ clients and clients that are navigating difficulties in relationships with friends, family, or a partner. I have years of experience with substance abuse clients. During our first session, we will get a picture of the overall concerns, current symptoms, treatment history, and goals. Credentials & Experience: I have been practicing with my master's degree since June of 2021 and have been formally licensed since September of 2023. Each year, I take continuing education courses to update and refine my knowledge.
"I consider myself a primarily person-centered therapist. This means that I prioritize the therapist/client relationship and focus on building good rapport and a safe, positive, judgment-free environment. I do draw strongly from CBT and ACT as well so as to help combat unhelpful thoughts and promote radical acceptance of what is and what has been."
