About
In my opinion, we all need a little therapy now and again! Just like our bodies need regular care and upkeep, and some extra support from a medical professional sometimes, our minds and internal selves need regular attention and support, as well. Therapy has a place for the proactive mental health seekers and those who have pain and vulnerabilities. I enjoy working with people who need support with depression, anxiety, stressful life circumstances and relationship issues, severe mental illness, childhood trauma, sexual abuse, and chronic pain. These are all areas where I've been able to help clients move forward in their lives. My foundation in therapy is strengths-based, person-centered and trauma-informed. I also pull from attachment and systems theories to understand each person in the context of their core relationships and communities. I tailor strategies from many evidenced-based therapies, including CBT, DBT, and crisis intervention. I believe every person has the capacity to learn and make changes to improve their life. The process of understanding and responding to problems and hardships in new ways can be a challenging endeavor, but more importantly it can be encouraging, rewarding and empowering. Everyone needs to feel safe, heard, and supported as they engage in therapeutic work. Credentials & Experience: I have almost 12 years of experience helping adults, teens and people with severe mental illness. I'm licensed in both OR and WA and hold additional certification in trauma-informed therapy.
