What is therapy? What does it mean to be human? Is there a connection between those two questions? I believe the answer to the last question is firmly, “Yes.” Therapy, to me, is where we explore what it means to be uniquely human, in our isolation and connection, our power and limitations, our purpose and our fears. Therapy is where we talk, process, embrace silence, and laugh – where we can be our authentic selves, working out our healing to “become who we are” (Nietzsche). In a continually fractured world, it can be difficult to know who we are and where we are headed (both personally and as humanity). While I can’t provide you with those answers, I can help you discover them for yourself. Through intentional, curious questions, I’ll help you consider who you are, how you got here, and whether it’s where you want to be. My therapeutic approach plays in paradox and works to find a “third way” between rigid rules and aimless ambivalence. Together we’ll dive the depths and search the stars. I'm all about meaning-making, so whether you are religious, spiritual, or nowhere in between, I’m here to help you to discover what compels you to keep going. Specialties: While I work with a variety of needs, I have special interest working with clients experiencing depression, going through life transitions, or de/re-constructing their religious beliefs and experiences. I use many strategies to assist clients, with extra attention paid to values, goals, and small steps we can take to make progress. I love to listen, reflect, and explore. Credentials & Experience: I draw upon 12 years of experience working in the human services and mental health fields to meet my clients where they are. I've worked with youth and adults in residential facilities, shelters, and community mental health centers, providing direct care, case management, and therapy.
"My approach is largely existential, meaning I ask questions to understand you and your worldview, reflecting things that stand out to increase insight and create change. I also draw upon DBT to help you balance paradoxes, SFBT to help you solve problems, and ACT to help you consider the role of values in your life."
