Tibor Baukal

Tibor Baukal is a licensed professional counselor in the state of Pennsylvania and an associate counselor in marriage and family therapy in New Jersey. His training in family systems has helped him to understand the importance of meeting clients where they are at, and how to work collaboratively with them to help them not only relieve symptoms, but to work through their problems and improve their overall level of functioning and resilience. He understands that the most important aspect of therapy is joining with clients and helping them to develop a sense of hope and expectancy for change. He is an experienced therapist, treating addiction and major mental health disorders and is a Certified Advanced Alcohol & Drug Counselor with a Master's degree in marriage and family therapy. He received advanced training in the diagnosis, assessment, and treatment of clients in a culturally sensitive and systemic fashion when working with diverse clients. As an immigrant who arrived in the US as a small child, he is keenly aware of the intersection of identities and privilege when working with clients. His favorite metaphor for understanding the human condition is that of life as shipwreck, of being thrown or cast into a world not of our own choosing or making, but one that we must learn to make our own.
