Stephen Lee Robinson
Lic Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor
·MA, LCMHCS, LCAS, CCMHCAbout
My passion is to help those who struggle with the challenges of life and turn them into opportunities for growth and resilience. You may have sought therapy in the past and have become discouraged or lost hope for the life you deserve to live. Together we will build a therapeutic alliance, the foundation of therapy, on which all growth is made possible. We will view the world through new eyes and achieve perspective that allows us to live our lives formed by our values instead of our fears. It is crucial that I, the therapist, be attuned to your worldview in order to facilitate healing, acceptance and self compassion. I enjoy treating trauma since the healing process is so salient and profound. I strive to help the depressed and anxious see through new eyes. The couples who seek me out develop their ability to communicate in new ways. It is important to understand that all behavior is adaptive and I am amazed at what is humanly possible through mindful awareness. My intent is to foster acceptance, values and mindful awareness for a diverse clientele. I have experience treating addiction, severe mental health issues, e.g. mood disorders, couples therapy, attachment, grief and anxiety disorders. Through mindfulness and ACT, we can achieve meaning in our lives. Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional. Credentials & Experience: I have 23 years of experience working with adults and couples in crisis. I'm licensed both in mental health and addiction in North Carolina and enjoy treating adjustment disorders and trauma survivors.
"I have gravitated over my career toward Acceptance and Commitment Therapy since it is the "Third Wave" of the evolution of cognitive therapy. It only follows that we regard our perspective as defining our mood. The chore of changing thoughts is less organic than simply noticing them and letting them go. I employ EMDR more broadly now and support mindful awareness. MI for substance use disorders."
