About

I am a Caribbean-American counselor providing services to various populations. My parents migrated from Grenada to Brooklyn, NY. I was born and raised in the melting pot surrounded by people of different ethnicities, religions, socioeconomic statuses and sexual orientations. I encourage clients to share their cultural beliefs and values to increase my multicultural competency. My counseling sessions are an integrative approach of narrative therapy then incorporating cognitive behavioral therapy. As a licensed counselor, I adhere to the Code of Ethics to ensure client safety. Both parties agree that sessions remain confidential. My goal is to collaborate with client(s) in helping them achieve their wellness goals. The first appointment is an intake session where I gather information from you and what do you expect out of counseling. Subsequent sessions focus on meeting those goals. I’m asking that clients are honest so we can be effective. Not only am I a licensed counselor, I’m also a PhD student in Department of Counseling at the illustrious North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University. My major is Counselor Education & Supervision. My dissertation focuses on the mental health stigma of Caribbean immigrants. Specialties: As a licensed counselor, I enter into a professional relationship with clients with several goals in mind. The initial session is intake where I gather information. In future sessions, we collaborate a treatment plan for not just SMART goals but SMARTER goals that leading to longevity decisions. Credentials & Experience: I have over 8 years of experience helping children, adolescents, and adults in crisis. Not only do I have a passion in helping but I give my time in communities of underserved populations. In my spare time, I serve the community.

"I use the integrative approach of narrative therapy then incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). The purpose of narrative therapy will allow you to tell you to change the perception of the traumatic event(s). When you perceive the story differently, it causes your thoughts to change. With CBT, how you think is how you will act. Positive thoughts lead to positive behaviors."
