About
Whether it is depression, mood swings, anxiety, anger, or any combination of these regardless of the causes, if you are ready to feel better and ready to work at it, we can cooperate to meet your goals. By combining Cognitive Behavioral and Mindfulness-based interventions, we can work together to focus your attention, calm your mind, and feel better physically and emotionally. I am a Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) teacher, Certified through the University of California, San Diego Mindfulness-Based Professional Training Institute. MBSR is an 8-week group course designed to change our relationship to the stress in our lives, minimizing the impact it has, and maximizing peace, happiness, and our overall quality of living. Specialties: I work with clients dealing with anxiety, anger, depression, grief, pain, you know...STRESS. The first session will be mostly history gathering. I know, not anyone's favorite, but it's an important part of me getting to know and understand you. After this, I'll teach you mindfulness meditation and how to apply what you learn in meditation to meet your treatment goals. Credentials & Experience: I have more than 15 years experience providing psychotherapy in private practice and I have taught hundreds of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction participants as a Certified Teacher of MBSR classes.
"My approach combines mindfulness-based and cognitive behavioral principles and practices with the intent to increase overall awareness and improve effective emotional management. I typically support clients in building a daily mindfulness meditation practice and help them deepen this practice as a way of exploring and resolving a variety of treatment issues."
