Suzanne Bierer

Welcome! I specialize in working with adults, particularly those coping with cPTSD (complex trauma), and work with a variety of challenging issues including childhood abuse, anxiety/depression, relationship struggles, codependency and those in recovery from addiction. I'm told that my warm, relational style creates a safe environment where clients can explore their deepest concerns to discover pathways to healing and growth. My expertise is especially attuned to the needs of highly sensitive people (HSP), those who 'dive deep' and I also enjoy working with other therapists. I am licensed in both Maryland and Washington D.C. My approach integrates several effective modalities including somatic therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, and psychodynamic work. EMDR is another tool I keep in my back pocket for single-incident traumas. The work is gentle, intuitive and respectful, and offers deep healing to old wounds that can surface as anger, sadness, disconnection and more. I believe we all want to heal and in our own way, attempt to do so. I liken this to how plants intuitively know to turn toward the sun. Sometimes the light is blocked and we need a little help finding and clearing the obstacle. The work I do honors your own 'inner turning' while helping you find and loosen that which has kept you stuck. Wishing you the best!
