About
Who is taking care of you? Meeting with a caring and experienced practitioner in person can reduce the burden of managing mental health challenges, for you and/or yours. You don't have to do this alone, or through a screen, or in a big clinic. I provide in-person and online counseling in my private office in Columbia, MD (21044) for adolescents, young adults, and adults experiencing (among other issues) anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and life transitions, and also do family/couples therapy sessions in conjunction with individual work or as the main format of therapy. Call me for a brief, free consultation to see if we click. My typical patient population include: Professionals experiencing burnout, anxiety, or decision paralysis; Caregivers balancing work, family, and aging parents; Adults and adolescents navigating life transitions, identity shifts, or relationship stress; People who tend to overthink, self-criticize, or are perfectionistic; Individuals with disordered eating My approach to therapy is warm, engaged, and conversational. I tailor treatment to each client’s developmental stage and goals, whether fostering new skills or modifying long-standing but unproductive patterns. Sessions focus on understanding what’s driving distress, strengthening emotional awareness, and developing practical tools for change. Specialties: Having done this work for a long time, I am quick to identify problematic patterns and where we might intervene. Whether you present with anxiety, depression, disordered eating, difficulties with transitions, self-esteem problems, communication challenges, or some other issue, the related factors come together into some predictable "dance" we work to identify, so you can change the "steps". Credentials & Experience: I have decades of experience in outpatient hospital facilities and in private practice, working with children, adolescents, and adults. Through a licensure compact, I am able to provide telehealth services to clients in over 40 states, for those who travel or attend college out of state.
"After so many years of doing therapy, my approach has become rather eclectic. I find that many of my patients are "over-thinkers," so while we work on recognizing the patterns of their thought and feelings, we go beyond just talking about and analyzing them. With a focus on action and experience, you can come to manage and tolerate discomfort, empowering you to make productive changes in your life"
