About
Are you feeling overwhelmed or stressed out? Frustrated with a close relationship? I’m a clinical psychologist specializing in stress and anxiety. I work with individuals and couples. I have a health psychology background and have helped many clients with chronic pain/illness, as well as making behavior changes such as weight loss, exercise, quitting smoking, & preparing for bariatric surgery. I will meet you where you are. My approach combines mindfulness, acceptance, and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). My greatest strength is being genuine and helping you feel seen and understood. We will work together to identify unhelpful patterns of thinking and behavior, to process difficult situations in your life, and to improve your own self-care. Thanks for taking the time to check out my profile! It can be difficult to ask for help and sometimes just a session or two with a skilled therapist is all you need to get unstuck. Please reach out by phone or email to schedule an appointment, or go to Vagaro and book online by searching for The Gardiner Center for Stress Management. Specialties: My goal is to help you better manage stress and anxiety. Therapy with me will address symptoms of anxiety with cognitive-behavioral techniques and mindfulness skills, as well as empowering you to be fully yourself. Many times in life our stress is magnified by a feeling that we can't fully express what we need to, and this is where therapy is extremely helpful. Credentials & Experience: I am a clinical psychologist (Ph.D.) who has been licensed in Maine since 2007. I completed a postdoctoral residency in clinical and health psychology at the Maine VA Healthcare System and worked at Togus for several years before entering private practice.
"The groundwork for therapy is always the relationship, so my approach is rooted in humanism - seeing and accepting you fully as you are. My goal is always to be genuine and real with clients, giving honest feedback (but not too much advice). I have extensive training in cognitive-behavioral therapy and typically combine these techniques with a relationship-based approach to treatment."
