About
I am a "regular guy" kind of therapist. I don't wear a tie, but I have been known to sport a fedora or other stylish hat and am accompanied by two noisy corgis. I bring 36 years of experience to the counseling relationship. I strive to empower my clients to make positive changes in their lives. My ideal clients are those individuals who want to work from a strengths-based perspective to improve their quality of life. I don't like to see people stuck in a "sick" or "victim" role because that is the narrative that was given to them early in life. Let's work together to write your own story, one with the happiest ending yet to come! I have had tremendous success in treating a variety of issues and symptoms including but not limited to: anxiety, OCD, PTSD, depression, substance use, medical illnesses (chronic pain, IBS, Chrohn's disease, etc.), sexual dysfunction, smoking cessation, insomnia & eating disorders. I believe helping people find purpose, meaning, and connection is crucial. I specialize in hypnotherapy, but please don't be scared off by images of hypnotism that you have seen on TV. You won't be clucking like a dog or barking like a chicken. If this is too scary, we can find an approach that is right for you and fits your way of thinking & perspective on change. I am currently accepting online clients in Maine and Pennsylvania. Specialties: In 35 years in practice, I have seen most issues but I never assume any issue or symptom is more important that my client's perspective on that issue. I don't know exactly how you feel, no one does, but I am willing to listen without judgment in an effort to find a path to your optimal functioning. Credentials & Experience: I have earned a BS in Biology from Ursinus College, an MEd in Counseling Psychology from Rutgers University, an MBA in Healthcare Administration from California Pacific University, & an MA/PsyD (Doctor of Psychology) in Clinical Psychology & a JD in law all from Widener University.
"There is no one size fits all treatment or miracle cure. Psychotherapy and counseling are about a connection between a therapist or counselor and a client who is ready for help in addressing those parts of their life that feels out of control or in need of an overhaul or change. I am a guide/coach/mentor for this change process or journey."
