About

Being a child, teen or young adult can be overwhelming. For parents too! There are social needs, academic demands, and family relationships to better understand and manage. It's a time of discovering who you are, who you want to be, and how to get there. That’s a lot! Whatever your individual challenges or goals may be, we can uncover the tools and strategies that work best for you. You need someone who will listen, understand your perspective, and help you feel better. I'd love to help. School-related problems, emotional regulation, and adoption are areas of specialty. My own experiences as a misunderstood teen shaped my passion for helping young people feel heard, valued, and supported. School-related problems, emotional regulation, and adoption are areas of specialty, as is self-discovery and identity in young-adulthood. I have 30-years of experience as a school social worker and enjoy working with families. I offer a safe, comfortable space and a friendly atmosphere. I am low-key and love good humor. Being non-judgmental, I make it easier for us to build a trusting relationship. I will listen and empower you, rather than tell you what to do. If you love animals, I sometimes have therapy animals join our work together when appropriate. Specialties: As both an LCSW and a former special education teacher, I have 30 years experience in public school settings. I help young people with a variety of issues that may impact the way they feel at home or at school and help families to support their children. As an adoptive parent and adoptive sibling, I also have an invested interest and specific training in adoption-related needs. Credentials & Experience: I am a former, certified teacher of students with disabilities (grades 7-12), and have additional certifications in two career based assessments: the Myers Briggs and Strong Interest Inventories. I have a therapy dog through ATD and am working on my certification in Animal-Assisted Psychotherapy.

"I offer an individualized and integrative approach with a focus on coping strategies, relationships, and systems of support. For younger clients, parent involvement is essential; for teens and young adults, the focus is on individual growth and development. I am an advocate for students and families navigating complex school-related needs and specialize in adoption related issues."
