About
My name is Dr. Arlene Brewster, and my life's work is helping people like you find their way back to their core strength. I’m a Certified Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapist with over 30 years of experience. I believe that you aren’t broken and don’t need to be fixed. My role is to provide a safe space where we can understand the parts of you that are struggling and gently guide you toward healing. I practice IFS therapy because it doesn’t work from the premise that you have symptoms of sickness. It believes that we all have protective parts that try to cope with challenging and painful situations from our past. These parts are intended to protect you. If you understand and accept what all those protective parts have towards you, you would be able to work with them without needless shame or the belief that you aren’t good enough. My clients always get to learn about ways to know themselves and heal from wounds, rather than seeing themselves as damaged or sick. My approach is informed by a rich and diverse background in both clinical psychology & medical settings. I earned my PhD from the University of Michigan, where my doctoral dissertation focused on hospitalized children’s understanding of their illness and treatment. Start your healing journey. Call or email Dr. Arlene B. Brewster today to book your session. Specialties: No matter where you find yourself in life, healing begins when you feel safe enough to be understood and brave enough to look within. I've walked with clients through grief, betrayal, chronic pain, and family conflict, not as an expert above them, but as a trusted listener beside them. Credentials & Experience: As a Certified IFS Therapist, with over three decades of experience, I help you access your innate calm, clarity, and compassion, so you find the self that's always been there, even beneath the pain.
"I work as a Certified IFS Therapist because I've found that healing begins when you can understand your struggles, not as flaws, but as parts of you trying to help. IFS lets us meet those parts with kindness, curiosity, and hope."
