About
Looking to explore tough questions? Needing change? Seeking a warm but challenging therapeutic environment? Schedule an appointment with me. I offer morning, lunchtime, and afternoon appointments in-person and online. I work with many clients who have experienced trauma, as well as with those struggling with anxiety, depression, addiction, eating disorders, self-harm, suicidal ideations, and compulsive behaviors. I frequently work with active-duty service members, vets, and their families, as well as with those in the LGBTQIA+ community. In addition to working with adults, I also work with preteen and teens. Prior to entering the field of counseling, I was a teacher. I worked in K-12 education for 10+ years. Upon joining the counseling field, I worked on an adolescent unit at an inpatient psychiatric hospital. I am skilled at working with preteens and teens, and I love working with them. Whether you’ve been in therapy before & are looking to do more in depth/challenging work or you’re looking to try therapy for you or your child for the first time, consider making an appointment with me. Curious about an appointment but still unsure? Check out my psychoeducational videos on Insta: DianaWardandYou2.0 and then message for a free consultation. Specialties: I primarily work with teens and adults who have experienced trauma or who are struggling with anxious tendencies, depressive episodes, addictive behaviors, an eating disorder, self-harm, or suicidal thoughts. If you feel stuck, overwhelmed, or like getting through the day is a constant battle, I am here to help you find a way forward. Credentials & Experience: I am a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and featured in these textbooks: Counseling Journeys; Counseling for Groups: Process & Practice (11th ed.); Issues and Ethics in the Helping Professions (11th ed.); Counselor Self-Care (2nd ed.); & Family and Community Engagement in Charter Schools, Vol 1.
"My primary theoretical orientation is motivational interviewing, an approach centered on helping people move through stages of change so they can live the life they want. Underneath is a person-centered approach. I believe the therapeutic relationship is important & will work to build trust so you feel comfortable to open up.
