About
I have been a RN for over 34 years and I have a passion for families and couples faced with the stresses of coping with illnesses and with caring for their family who are ill. With a long history of working with those with chronic health problems, I have the knowledge to help guide you as you learn new coping skills, ways to reduce anxiety, new ways to communicate, and conflict resolution. I have a heart for those who are experiencing grief, whether this grief is due to losing a loved one, or for one of the many ambiguous losses. I am a marriage and family therapist and have been trained in EMDR therapy, which is used to treat both PTSD and past traumas. I have been trained in pre-marital therapy utilizing the Prepare and Enrich system. I am a member of AAMFT, Delta Kappa honor society, and EMDRIA. I also have a heart for caregivers: it is a job that has an enormous stress and little support. I do group classes on caregiving and how to manage the stress as well individual/family interventions for care giving situations. Credentials & Experience: I have over 41 years in the medical field: 9 as a therapist and 32 as an RN. I hold additional training in trauma informed therapy and in grief.
"I often start with solution-based therapy. My thoughts are, if you can see progress early in the therapy process, you will be more willing to work to make additional changes that will impact your life."
