About
My clients' potential needs and issues may include a number of symptoms that interfere with their day-to-day (and night) ability to live a satisfying life. Issues clients bring to me often include ones from childhood trauma (for example, family of origin, extrafamilial abuse, chronic victimization. Goals include learning to live in the present. I have a strengths-based practice and draw from multiple modalities to match the needs of clients. I believe I am a good teacher, and I am very positive while respecting the difficulties people who see me have faced. I especially like to reflect what I see in the client back to them. Through the use of a variety of methods, including narrative, Cognitive Behavioral Work, and Mindfulness, coupled with 35+ years of experience, training and knowledge, I offer clients them someone who understands Emotional, intellectual and physical issues they may be dealing with. It is my job to help you get to know me and for me to get to know you. It is important to me that you understand who I am. I offer consistency, continuity, and predictability I invite you to ask questions and ask about things I say that sound inconsistent or confusing to you. It's my responsibility to ensure that you feel supported, respected and believed. Specialties: I work primarily with clients who have experienced human-to-human trauma, including family or relationship trauma. During our initial sessions, we will identify and explore urgent issues and/or ones that bring you to therapy. We'll create a plan and discuss symptom containment. Most clients experience relief and a decrease in symptoms that they can maintain. Credentials & Experience: I have over 35 years of experience working with victims/survivors and practice trauma-informed therapy. I have extensive advanced training in trauma-informed care. I also have experience with animal-assisted therapy and am an ESMHL (Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning).
