About
Hi, I’m Ava. I'm a therapist specializing in grief, trauma, and anxiety. I know searching for a therapist can feel scary, and it can be hard to know who will be the right fit. My approach to therapy begins with getting to know you and your unique needs, whether that means building practical skills, developing deeper insight, or simply having a supportive space to process life’s challenges. My goal is to walk alongside you as we work through life’s difficulties, offering support, encouragement, and empowerment every step of the way. Some of my specialties include walking with you through grief, trauma, anxiety & OCD, and boundary setting. I use research-based treatments (such as CBT and DBT) alongside genuine connection, a touch of humor, and an integration of faith when desired, to meet you where you are and move forward together. I consider it a true privilege when clients allow me into their lives and stories. If you’re longing for a safe, supportive space to be fully seen and heard, I’d be honored to walk alongside you as you take steps toward healing, growth, and hope. Specialties: I work with clients who are struggling across multiple areas of life. Maybe you just lost someone you love and don't know how to navigate life. Maybe you feel like you can't "shut off" your brain and worry consumes you. Maybe flashbacks from things you try not to think about keep coming up. Whatever the struggle, I work with my clients to build healthy tools for lasting change. Credentials & Experience: I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Iowa with clinical experience supporting adults through anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, and life transitions. I integrate evidence-based approaches like CBT and DBT with a Christ-centered perspective to provide compassionate, effective care.
"I draw from CBT and DBT to help you notice how your thoughts, feelings, and actions connect. In our sessions, we'll work together to practice mindfulness, strengthen relationships, and apply practical strategies that support real change and emotional growth. In our work together, we'll also take time to process your experiences and emotions, creating space for insight, healing, and growth."
