About
You have been meaning to start therapy for a while, but the process is intimidating. OR… You've struggled to find a clinician who gets you. You feel lonely and empty. You are wrestling with understanding yourself and your identity. Even when things seem to be going well, it feels like something is missing. If this sounds like you, we'd probably be a good fit. Rebecca at Grounded Counseling (that's me!) will help you with validation, practical suggestions, and once trust is established, deeper exploratory work. I will laugh at your jokes (if they're funny) and maybe make some (no guarantees they'll be funny). Those who know me describe me as warm, relatable and empowering. Collaborative and person-centered is how I would describe my approach. I enjoy working with LGBTQ+ folks, recovering co-dependents, and fellow social workers. I am a neurodiversity-affirming, trauma-informed provider who loves treating millennials and Gen X. If you're interested in working with me, please shoot me a message. From there, we can schedule a free, 15-minute phone consultation, or schedule an intake if you're ready to get started! Specialties: Together, we will understand how your trauma responses protected you, and help you move from surviving to thriving! The goal is not to take away what's currently helping you survive. The goal is to ADD more tools, more self-compassion, and more joy. Credentials & Experience: I'm licensed in Illinois and Indiana!
"I aim to create a collaborative therapeutic relationship - research shows this is THE most effective intervention! I tailor my approach to each client and how they show up in session. Sometimes we talk more about coping skills and practical strategies. Other sessions are focused on processing deep emotions."
