Counselor
·LMHC-AAbout
I hold a Masters degree in Education from Purdue Calumet with a concentration in School and Mental Health Counseling. I have spent the last 10+ years working with children, adolescents and their families in many capacities including child welfare and as a guidance counselor in the local school systems. In the counseling field within the school systems, I provided support to families and counseling services to students in both the individual setting as well as group setting who are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma-related disorders, grief, mood disorders, ADHD, behavioral disorders and many more. I work hard to help children as well as adolescents by including behavioral management, aligning home and school expectations, teaching consistency and structure, while introducing and practicing coping skills, as well as continually supporting families. I have extensive experience working with adults as well. Prior to working within the education system, I worked with adults suffering from mental health challenges, such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, grief, mood disorders, life transitions and stressors and many more by teaching life skills and facilitating groups. I will work to identify the unique needs and the root cause of my client’s distress.
"I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in my practice. In your first session, we'll explore what brought you to therapy and then decide the most appropriate ways to help you make progress. With CBT, we'll look at how your thoughts affect your emotions and experience. During treatment, I'll help you learn how to push back against those thoughts to change your feelings for the better.""
