About
I often work with people who are feeling that they are losing the joy in their life-that their natural support system just isn't working. Many of my clients struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma or difficulty in relationships. By constantly struggling on your own it can become overwhelming and you may feel like giving up. Together, we can take a pause to de-stress some of the tension you have been holding on to. We will build new insights into old patterns and create new skills that encourage mindfulness, emotional regulation, and better tolerance of distress. By loving yourself, you can improve your relationships with others. I am Valerie Lamke, LMFT with over 20 years of experience in private practice. I use a variety evidence-based treatment modalities such as CBT and DBT and integrate techniques designed to calm and soothe mental and physical symptoms of distress. Using these mindfulness practices, clients can work through difficult issues in a gentle and supportive way. Starting therapy can be the beginning of real transformation and growth. It is important that you are treated with respect and dignity during this process and I strive to create a positive alliance with you. I am accepting new clients and look forward to connecting with you. Specialties: No matter what modality of treatment that I use, CBT, DBT. Trauma-CPT, I blend it with Emotional Support Techniques, to encourage you to be heard and validated along the way. I also start each session, asking you, the client, what is most important to talk about that particular day. That is called Client-Directed Care. Credentials & Experience: Trained in CBT, DBT, CPT, PCIT, TF-CBT. Years of experience in Mental Health, providing caring and effective treatment, so you can have a positive change outcome.
"I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy in my practice. If you have trauma, I use Cognitive Processing Therapy. Once we establish your goals, we'll decide the most appropriate ways to help you make progress. With CBT, we'll look at how your thoughts affect your emotions and experience. DBT incorporates the use of Mindfulness and Radical Acceptance to create change."
