About
Having fought breast cancer, I know how helpful the right therapist can be when going through a challenging time. It's been an honor to be that therapist for my clients. I look forward to being that person for you. I look forward to working with you on your therapy goals and to facing your challenges together. Sessions vary depending on your needs. Examples include processing current life stressors, challenging negative thoughts, setting boundaries, calming anxiety, preventing panic, and working through painful memories. Together, we will outline a course for accomplishing your goals at a pace that's reasonable and manageable. Trained at Columbia University, I specialize in situational stress, anxiety and trauma. We'll determine the content for each session together and implement appropriate therapy styles to meet your needs. See below for a list of the evidence based practices I incorporate in sessions. My role is to assist you in bringing about the changes you'd like to see, whether it's working through difficult life experiences, calming anxiety, developing a stronger self-worth, or processing a traumatic experience. Our work will leave you feeling empowered, connected to yourself, and equipped for difficult situations. Specialties: I can help with the following goals and more: Challenging thoughts that cause unnecessary distress, Coping with powerful and overwhelming emotions, Reducing distress towards trauma and reprocessing trauma memories to improve life outlook, Increasing life satisfaction, Effective communication and boundary setting, Making challenging tasks more manageable, Increasing motivation to make life changes
"I use a combination of therapy styles and the modalities I use depend on your therapy goals. I may use CBT to challenge thoughts causing distress, MI to increase motivation to accomplish goals, DBT for calming panic/anxiety and boundary setting, EMDR/FLASH/IFS for managing trauma. We will use session time to address both your weekly stressors and the goals we create together in our first session."
