About
Deciding to begin psychotherapy is one of the kindest and most important choices you can make for yourself. It can be a turning point in your life, but it can also feel scary to talk to someone you don't know well. I work with individuals and couples, providing a warm, safe, confidential environment where I will listen carefully and where we will work together to understand and resolve the issues you are struggling with—both in terms of how they affect your current life and in terms of how they became issues in the first place. I help adults struggling with relationship issues, anxiety, depression, perfectionism, low self-esteem, and a wide range of other concerns. I specialize in a population I call Unhappy Achievers: people who appear highly successful on the outside, but privately struggle with anxiety, depression, and a sense of emptiness—often without understanding why. I graduated with honors in psychology from Yale and received my MSW from New York University. My approach is psychodynamically oriented, which means that I am focused on benefits that not only help now, but can also stand the test of time. I look forward to working with you! Please note: I do not accept insurance directly, due to confidentiality issues. Specialties: I specialize in working with a population I call Unhappy Achievers: adults who appear highly successful on the outside, but privately struggle with anxiety, depression, and a sense of emptiness... often without understanding why. In our sessions together, we'll look at two things simultaneously: where you're struggling now and where the patterns you're struggling with came from in the first place. Credentials & Experience: I am proud to be licensed as a psychotherapist in California, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Colorado and Oregon.
"My approach to therapy is psychodynamically oriented. That means that we'll not only work on issues that affect your life now, but talk about how they became issues in the first place. By focusing on both, you can make gains that help your life right now and gains that stand the test of time. I also regularly draw on other approaches, such as CBT and ACT, to best meet your individual needs."
