About

Many of my clients come to treatment because their mental health has started to impact their functionality at home or at work. Often, they've just tried working harder to compensate but this leads to a vicious cycle of burnout. It's ultimately not about working to achieving a goal. It's about the processes of exploring who you really are, seeking authenticity, & going beyond your emotional comfort zone. Maybe this means increasing your self care and coping skills. Or, if needed, I am trained in conducting evaluations for workplace accommodations or disabilities due to mental illness for FMLA and temporary disability insurance. Feel free to check out ShrinkMindset dot com which features many of my Psychology Today writings and can give you a good sense of my therapeutic approach. So if, for example, you've realized that working yourself to exhaustion for a corporation is leaving you lonely, stressed, and unfulfilled and you want to take on the more difficult challenge of connecting with who you really are, please reach out. Specialties: I primarily work with clients who are left stressed and unfulfilled by their focus on work or school. This can manifest as anxiety, depression, trauma, or just plain burnout. I help clients identify what's really important to them as they work towards wholeness. We work towards a balance of being effective in the world while also living authentically. Credentials & Experience: I have over 20 years of experience practicing therapy in Silicon Valley. I have a PhD and two Masters degrees, and I've taught college for many years at both the undergraduate and graduate level. In addition to practicing therapy I write the column Shrink Mindset for Psychology Today.

"Although I borrow effective techniques from many therapy styles, overall my approach is client-centered and humanistic while using CBT tools when helpful. These treatment types emphasize building on your strengths and focusing on what you can control. I help clients explore practical solutions to their problems while at the same time developing coping skills to better tolerate stress."
