About
I'm dedicated to helping people maximize their potential and reach important goals. I prefer moving forward instead of examining the past. Many years of experience with individuals, couples, and families has encouraged me to be optimistic about people and life. Clients describe their coaching experiences with me as rewarding, practical, and fun. It would be a genuine pleasure to know you and share your journey whatever your goal. I am an Academy For Eating Disorders Fellow with 30 plus years experience as a Marriage & Family Therapist and a K-12 school Guidance counselor licensed in Pennsylvania before moving to Arizona. My educational training integrates personal coaching with traditional theories about making and sustaining change. I'm solution focused and goal oriented. I will be attentive to your needs without wasting time. I enjoy helping adolescents, seniors and all adults in between find strategies for moving forward in life with maximum health and joy. I enjoy helping individuals, couples & families meet challenges, improve relationships, adjust to major changes, & cope with personal losses. I developed a nationally recognized Bariatric Surgery aftercare program for durable recovery from morbid obesity & was licensed in Pennsylvania for many years as a Guidance Counselor, & a Marriage & Family Therapist. Specialties: Initial sessions will focus on identifying your specific therapy challenges, surface issues and deeper ones that may be harder to change. For example, you may have lost a loved one and it feels like life has lost its meaning. We can't erase the loss you have suffered but there are many ways to address the loneliness that is paralyzing you. We'll find ways to put you on a path forward together. Credentials & Experience: I hold two Master's degrees, one in teaching (I am licensed in PA in Guidance K-12 & one in Counseling Psychology. I also have an extensive post graduate certification from the University of Pennsylvania's Council For Relationships in Marriage & Family Therapy . I was Licensed in PA from 2002-2012.
"I use Cognitive Behavioral principles in my practice. In your first session, we'll explore your presenting problems and then decide together the most appropriate ways for you to improve. With CBT, we'll look at how your thoughts/actions affect your emotions and experience. During sessions, I'll help you learn how to push back against negative thoughts to change your feelings for the better."
