Marly Knutson
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
·LCSWAbout
Searching for a therapist can feel daunting. I know this firsthand from looking for my own counseling. Welcome. I have been practicing as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 2017. Having lived in Alaska, Michigan, and Hawaii, I am licensed in all three states. Supporting first responders, military members, and their families is a deep passion of mine. My husband works in Wildland Fire, and my background with active and retired military personnel and their spouses solidified this focus. I also have experience working with cancer survivors, striving to provide light and hope in times of darkness. I use my training to help individuals experiencing anxiety, trauma/PTSD, ADHD, dating and relationship issues, and grief and loss. I bring a clinical, holistic, strengths-based perspective to mental wellness. My hope is for you to feel a positive and non-judgmental connection, because that dynamic is essential to change. Growth can feel slow. Together, let us work to reach your goals. Specialties: During our first session, I will take time to get to know you and gather the information I need to understand what brings you in. We will talk about your goals and what you hope to achieve. Together, we will figure out what works best for you and discuss how to move forward in the treatment process. Credentials & Experience: I bring direct experience in trauma work and am trained in EMDR therapy. I am a clinical ADHD strengths-based provider, licensed in both Michigan and Hawaii. At this time, I accept Alaska insurance only.
"I take a positive, strengths-based approach in my practice and in my life. I believe that every person has the capacity to change and grow, and I meet my clients where they are. One therapeutic tool I enjoy incorporating is the Enneagram, a personality framework that helps people better understand their core motivations, patterns, and potential for self-development. By using this and other evidence-based strategies within a warm, supportive therapeutic approach, I help clients build insight and move toward meaningful change at a pace that feels right for them."
