About
My work as a licensed counseling and sport psychologist is rooted in helping people face life's challenges head-on, uncover their own strengths, and move toward meaningful, lasting change. I strive to offer a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where you can openly explore your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors — because I truly believe that when we develop awareness around our experiences, we become far more capable of taking purposeful action, even in the hardest moments. Every person who walks through my door is unique, and I collaborate closely with each client to honor their individual needs and goals. That kind of partnership is what builds a therapeutic alliance grounded in trust, empathy, and genuine mutual respect. My style of counseling is both collaborative and integrative, meaning I draw from a range of evidence-based approaches to tailor care to you specifically. These include cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance-commitment therapy (ACT), and relational-cultural therapy (RCT). I also bring dedicated knowledge, training, and hands-on experience to athlete mental wellness and sport performance concerns — an area I'm especially passionate about supporting. I know that reaching out for help can feel overwhelming, even a little scary. The fact that you're reading this means you've already taken those first courageous steps toward positive change in your life. Whether you ultimately choose to work with me or find that another fit serves you better, please keep building on that momentum and hold onto hope — it matters more than you know. If you're ready to take the next step, don't hesitate to reach out for a FREE, 15-minute consultation with me at Sun Belt Psychology, PLLC. Specialties: My primary specialty area is sport psychology, and I specialize in helping athletes and active individuals strengthen the mental side of performance. As a certified mental performance consultant, I am experienced with a broad range of performance-related challenges, including performance anxiety and injury recovery, having worked across four NCAA Division I athletic departments throughout my career. Beyond sport, I also focus on substance use, guiding individuals through the complex emotional and behavioral patterns that come with it. I am experienced with anxiety and depression, offering support for those navigating the weight of daily mental health struggles. My work in health psychology allows me to address the connection between physical well-being and emotional health, and I specialize in supporting individuals with ADHD as they develop strategies to manage attention, focus, and daily functioning. Credentials & Experience: Licensed in Alabama (License #2283) and California (License #34404), I hold PSYPACT credentials (Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology #18500) that extend my reach to approximately 39 additional states across the U.S. This means I am equipped to deliver virtual therapy and sport performance services to clients in the vast majority of states nationwide.
"My therapeutic approach weaves together three evidence-based modalities — Relational Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) — to support genuine connection, deeper self-awareness, and lasting, meaningful change. Relational Therapy places the quality of our working relationship at the heart of the process, creating a safe and authentic space where real growth can begin. Through ACT, I help clients develop psychological flexibility — the ability to sit with difficult thoughts and feelings without being ruled by them — so that life can be guided by what truly matters rather than by fear or avoidance. CBT contributes a set of practical, structured tools for identifying and shifting unhelpful thought patterns that may be holding clients back from living fully. Together, these approaches work in service of a more connected, values-driven life. My sport psychology work extends these same principles into performance settings, with a focus on improving mindful practice and integrating ACT to help clients build a healthier, more present relationship with their athletic or competitive pursuits."
