Rachel L Christensen
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
·LCSW, LMSWAbout
I work with many high achievers who are doing great "on paper" but struggling on the inside. They often feel better after a few sessions and choose stay with me for a while because they see the benefits of having the space to process their thoughts, experiences, and feelings. If this speaks to you, I'm so glad you've found me! I bring compassion, humor, and warmth to our sessions. Together, we'll explore and stay curious about how you see and understand the world. My specialities include therapy with couples, families, teens, as well as infertility, pregnancy loss, and the postpartum period. I work relationally and psychodynamically with an attachment-based lens, which means that I care about how your past experiences and relationships are impacting you today. I'm here to help you get to the root of your problems. Sometimes you'll need me to gently listen, and other times you'll need me to push and challenge you. Either way, I'll show up with my undivided attention, respect, and curiosity. **Specialties:** There are two main reasons people come to work with me: 1) They're going through a major life change and having a tough time with it. 2) Everything is fine (or great, even) in theory but they're still not doing so hot and don't understand why. I offer a place to explore those feelings as well as practical frameworks/tools to make immediate changes. **Credentials & Experience:** I completed advanced training in family and couples therapy at The Ackerman Institute for the Family in NYC, and studied perinatal (pregnancy/birth/early parenthood) mental health with Postpartum Support International. Before becoming a therapist, I was a social media executive at the ACLU.
"I've trained to use a mix of modalities depending on what you need and what you've been through. Nothing I do is cookie cutter! I believe at getting to the root of issues and building a holistic understanding of why we do the things we do instead of solely focusing on quick fixes... otherwise, life can start to feel like a game of Whac-A-Mole."
