Mark Allen Urban
Licensed Professional Counselor
·LPC-MH, QMHPAbout
One of the greatest tragedies I witness is when individuals aren't living their lives to the fullest. Trauma, setbacks, addictions, and life's challenges often hinder us from becoming our true selves. Throughout my experience, I've had the privilege of working with diverse groups. Men, young adults, and veterans have been particularly rewarding to work with. As it is a start to a new year, why not get off on the right foot or tackle that thing you should have gotten to a long time ago. This can be the start of a great new chapter in your life. I take an eclectic approach to helping people because I believe therapy shouldn't be one-size-fits-all. My certifications include trauma therapy with Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). I also integrate Narrative Therapy techniques, complemented by my background in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Whatever challenges you're facing, I'm here to support you. Whether it's current issues or past experiences, I believe the first step is providing a listening ear and validation of your journey. I'm eager to hear your story and help you work toward your best life. Let's work on getting the most out of this game of life. **Specialties:** I specialize in trauma, addiction, resilience training, and other issues from divorce to loss of meaning. Getting help is hard but rewarding; a person can emerge from challenges much stronger than before. Overcoming whatever adversity a person has been challenged with can lead to a much more rewarding existence. **Credentials & Experience:** In addition to my credentials, I have experience in group therapy, grief/loss, relationships, trauma therapy (EMDR and CPT certifications), and almost 20 years of therapeutic experience.
"I usually like to tell people that I'm a Narrative Therapist. Which simply means, that I work with the story that people tell themselves. It is important to honor the client's perspective and to work on what they want. Additionally, there are a lot of therapeutic tools like Cognitive Behavior Therapy and EMDR that can resolve lifelong problems from trauma to addiction."
