About

Hi! My name is Julisa. As a person of color, I am driven by my desire to provide healthy representation of breaking generational trauma I longed to see available for myself and loved ones during various trials in our lives. I’ve used my wealth of professional and personal experience in community behavioral health and private practice settings to work as a team with people that are trying to create senses of stability, fulfillment and self-understanding in their lives. I aim to get rid of stigmas related to seeking professional help. Everyone deserves access to meaningful ways of healing without being labeled. I use a trauma-informed lens and holistic strength based approach to understand each person as the expert in their own life. I help them to recognize the skills they already have, how they present unique to their circumstances and ways to improve upon their skills to create a sense of confident self-management in every important area of their daily life. People that work with me can expect to leave sessions feeling genuinely seen, without judgement and knowing they are appreciated for showing up to heal themselves to the best of their abilities. I will do my best to ensure people can take a wealth of knowledge and adaptable healthy skill sets with them, to thrive in life outside of therapy. **Specialties:** Whether it's improving day to day routines, facing traumas or building skills to manage mental health symptoms, we'll work on it at your pace. A typical session involves encouraging you to be present with yourself, even through discomforts. We will explore what experiences contribute to how you interpret yourself, life circumstances and ability to make the changes or obtain healing you envision. **Credentials & Experience:** My primary focus is in Community and Trauma Counseling. I have over 11 years experience helping adults, youth/adolescents, couples and families through major life transitions, improving their relationships with each other and overcoming significant traumatic events.

"I use a holistic approach in my practice. Over the course of our work together we'll take a look at how you manage all important areas of your life: self-care, family/social relationships, frequented environments and access to resources for basic needs. Then we will tailor evidence based skill sets to maintain these areas, to resolve current issues and minimize the impact of future life stressors."
