Licensed Professional Counselor

There is an outdated stereotype of children being so resilient they can 'bounce back' from anything. This isn't always true. Children display reactions to traumatic experiences differently from adults that may not make sense to adults, may appear as "just annoying or whiny" or "a phase." Behaviors are often a symptom of a larger issue when children don't have language or tools to express themselves. I specialize in providing counseling to children ages 2-10. I obtained my Registered Play Therapist (TM) credential through the Association of Play Therapy after years of specialized training and supervision. I love working with children and helping them process life experiences. I have always wanted to work with kids. They are some of the most vulnerable and deserving members of our collective community and future. Children need someone who can understand them in their own 'language' and give back in that same way. I believe I am that person and would love the opportunity to help. **Specialties:** I specialize in Play Therapy with children between ages 2-10. I provide a non-directive style of play therapy in which the children in my services are given opportunities to process their experiences, grow in their regulation skills, and heal from psychosocial difficulties. Through the use of a child's natural language, play, children can engage with reduced fear and intimidation. **Credentials & Experience:** I recently obtained my Registered Play Therapist (TM) credential, making me Aberdeen's 1st & only RPT(TM). I also hold certifications to facilitate adolescent/adult groups in Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT), and adult groups in MRT-Trauma, and MRT-Domestic Violence.
