I have a partner, I have friends, I socialize regularly. Yet, I often feel a deep, aching loneliness. How can I be lonely when I'm never alone?

This hit me hard. I realized I never share my struggles with my friends, only my successes. No wonder I feel disconnected.

Loneliness is not the absence of people; it is the absence of being seen and understood. We can be surrounded by people but feel entirely isolated if those relationships lack vulnerability and authenticity. Ask yourself: in these relationships, are you showing up as your true self, or are you performing the version of yourself you think they want? Deep connection requires the risk of vulnerability. Try opening up about something slightly uncomfortable with one trusted friend and observe if the depth of connection changes.
